BIAGIONI GAS : the distributed product

LPG stands for Gas of Liquefied Oil. These initials generally mark two different kinds of gas, propane (C3H8) and butane (C4H10). These gases, frequently used in our daily life, can be extracted to be refined as an oil product. One hundred tons of crude oil can give about 2,5 ton of liquefied oil gas; a good percentage of gas used in the European countries is directly extracted from natural fields. At normal conditions of pressure and ambient temperature, the two fluids are at a gaseous state. Anyway they can be almost easily liquefied and at a pressure allowing the stocking of them in bottles, tanks and stowages.

For home use in the bottles in our country we use a mixture of butane and propane. For civil agricultural or industrial heating plants commercial propane is exclusively used. Gases are not poisonous; anyway they have a strong anaesthetic effect and so its inhalation could be harmful for people or animals.

Furthermore we must remember that we can find a presence of gas in the tanks at a liquid state. In case of a liquid leak, the expansion due to the return to a gaseous state, causes a great lowering of the temperature. This could provoke any burns on those parts of the body got accidentally in touch with the fluid.

It is right to know that those gases are heavier than the air and so, in case of leaks, they make a deposit at the bottom. If the leaks occur in the liquid phase, it is created a mist tending to gather towards the bottom. We always recommend a greatest prudence, both in case of leaks of gas and liquid, seen the easiness with which the product makes inflammable and explosive mixtures with the air.

When the external temperatures lower, the liquid gas inside the stowages can have an uneasy  evaporation and so not to grant the flux necessary for a correct run of the user equipments.

For plants of a certain size, we mainly set up to supply big buildings or whole hamlets, we set up, at our expenses, heating systems of the liquid, either electrical or with a gas boiler. These systems can grant the necessary evaporation speed to keep the gas flux capable to meet the requirements of the users.

Often our vaporization units are equipped with a local informatics allowing us the telecontrol of the plants. This automatic system quickly inform us in case of any damages allowing us to rapidly be present by reducing the times of no running of the plant and the discomforts for our users.
